All Devine Instructors have an award-winning record as a performer, choreographer, or teacher as well as an advanced education – that often includes a related bachelor’s degree, professional training, or both!
Brianna Culich – Ms. Bri is currently a medical school student at DMU. She’s been a team choreographer for Devine for the past three years with several pieces placing in the top 10. She is also an active member and choreographer of Dub-H, the largest hip-hop dance crew in the state. She is studying advanced dance classes through ISU and trained at The Edge in L.A. with SYTYCD choreographers in 2012 & 2013. Recently she took classes with Movements Lifestyle in L.A and Titans of Dance! Bri has been dancing for nearly 20 years and loves the art more than anybody I know. It is not uncommon to find her in the studio dancing when all the lights are turned out and everyone else has gone home. I am so happy to have her here at Devine because she shares that love of dance with each of her students and shows why hard work pays off.
Caitlynn Bruscher – Caitlynn is currently studying Exercise Science and Theatre at Central College. Her dance story began almost twenty years ago. In that time she’s studied Jazz, Tap, Pointe, Ballet/Lyrical, Hip-Hop, Acrobatics, and Choreography. She danced and competed at Devine for three years until she graduated. She was also involved in high school and college dance team at Central. She’s participated in many professional Master’s classes. Caitlynn is one of those people who embodies the love of dance. Her passion is evident in the way she works with her dancers.
Darian Delaney – Darian is an Elementary Education major at Iowa State University. She was a member of the cheer squad at ISU and has competed nationally for both cheer and dance. She has twelve years of dance experience and a very successful record wining first place at numerous regional and national dance competitions including Talent of Parade and Show Biz. She was on the Steppers Dance Team in high school where she participated in state competitions all four years at both the solo and team levels. She was captain of her team her senior year. Most recently she has been a member and choreographer for DubH, the renowned hip-hop team at ISU. Last year was her first year as a Devine team choreographer where her piece placed in the top 10 and received the highest adjudication recognition at every competition. We are so excited to have Darian’s passion for hip-hop and love for her dancers at Devine.
Kat Simpson – Kat received her B.A. in Performing Arts/Dance and Athletic Coaching from ISU. She’s been dancing and competing for over 20 years, as well as teaching and choreographing for over ten. In addition to teaching dance, Kat works as a personal trainer and group fitness instructor. She loves taking the physical and athletic aspect of dance and turning it into a production that tells an intricate story. Kat especially loves choreographing musical theater and “open” pieces and has a true passion for competitive dance. Though her hometown studio placed a main emphasis on tap dancing, Kat also has extensive experience with hip-hop, lyrical, jazz, musical theater, cabaret/burlesque and belly-dancing. We are very excited to have Kat at Devine as she brings a wonderful dynamic blend of experience and education to our teaching staff.
Megan Assenmacher-Umthum – Megan has a B.M. in Music Education from UNI and credits toward a Dance minor at ISU. Megan actively competes at the regional level and has taken first place for her auxiliary solos at MA Competitions the past two years. For nearly fifteen years Megan has been twirling flag, rifle, sabre, ribbon, and recently added baton and mace. She is the founder and director of the Midwest Color Guard and Dance company, writes for several central Iowa drill teams, and teaches for Central Iowa Color Guard Camp in the summer. Megan currently teaches music at Meskwaki Settlement School and Iowa Connections Academy, coaching Marshalltown High School Drill Team, and expanding her dance education by taking classes at Devine Dancers as well as pole and aerial dance at TGR in Des Moines.
Satine Shelley – Satine started dancing about 30 years ago and hasn’t stopped yet. Years of competitions and performing helped her realize having a healthy diet and strong body are vital, not only for a dance, but just being a mom! She’s studied Barre and Pilates, as well as Sculpt and Hot Yoga at CorePower Yoga Colorado. Satine’s certified to teach Barre Sculpt, Yoga Sculpt, Yin Yoga, and Cardio Barre. She has carefully developed a unique Barre Conditioning and Restore program, incorporating light weights and other props to creating strong, healthy bodies! Satine is a wonderful spirit of peace and rejuvenation. She proudly states she enjoys helping people, “discover strengths they didn’t know they had!”
Taylor Piper – Taylor has been dancing since she was eighteen months old and started competitive dance by the age of five. She’s attended numerous workshops, master classes and has placed in the top ten at regional competitions for solos, duets, trios, and group pieces. Taylor was also on the cheer squad at Carlisle and earned an All American title for cheer. She attends Iowa State where she is involved in Dub H, Iowa State’s hip hop club. These experiences made her well-rounded in many styles of dance, but her favorites are jazz and contemporary. She’s been tumbling for more than a decade and has taught high skilled tricks to all ages. She danced for Devine for four years and was a member of the team as well as a student helper. Taylor brings enormous amount of talent, discipline and love.
